SAPOL – Fatal crash at Findon

A man has died following a crash at Findon on Tuesday.

About 11.45pm on Tuesday 13 October, police and emergency services were called to Crittenden Road after reports a Holden Commodore crashed into a stobie pole.

The driver and sole occupant, an 80-year-old man from Fulham Gardens, was ejected from the vehicle.

SA Ambulance crews treated the man before conveying him to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Sadly, the man died in hospital this afternoon.

Major Crash Investigators are investigating the cause of the crash.

The man’s death is the 71st life lost on SA roads compared with 86 at the same time last year.

Police Citizen of the Year Announced

Port MacDonnell resident Grant Fensom has been named as the Lions Club of the City of Adelaide and South Australia Police 2020 Citizen of the Year.

Mr Fensom was nominated following his valuable contribution in the arrest of an armed holdup offender. Mr Fensom’s nomination was submitted by Superintendent Phil Hoff, Officer in Charge, Limestone Coast LSA.

On 22 August 2019, an offender entered the Port MacDonnell pharmacy wearing a facemask and armed with a knife. He threatened the pharmacist, threw a printer at his head and escaped with a quantity of drugs and cash. Thankfully the pharmacist was not badly injured and called for assistance.

Alleged freight train stowaway caught in Adelaide in breach of coronavirus restrictions

A man accused of stowing away on a freight train has been arrested in Adelaide, after allegedly crossing into SA from Victoria in breach of travel restrictions.

A rail supervisor found the 41-year-old, and called police, after the train arrived in Adelaide early this morning.

Police said the man boarded the train in the Victorian town of Dimboola, before it departed for Adelaide last night.

They did not say if the man was from the Wimmera town or from elsewhere within Victoria.
