A dated Henley Beach home that is set to be bulldozed to make way for another house has sold for more than $300,000 above reserve at auction.

The property at 126 East Terrace was snapped up for $1.75 million under the hammer at the weekend – well above its $1.43 million expectation.

Selling agent Jae Curtis, of Ray White Henley Beach, said a local family outbid several other competitive bidders to secure the 956sqm property and planned to knock the existing house down so they could build their dream home.
